Despite overcast skies and the occasional drizzle, there was a great turnout for this year’s Village Fayre on Bank Holiday Monday 29 May.

Village Spring Clean 2017

A strong turnout of regular team members and first timers on the morning of Saturday 29 April were rewarded this year with a lovely spring day. Interestingly, several people brought power tools to tackle slightly larger jobs. Our local MP also paid a surprise visit.

Ten teams from local organisations vied for the coveted trophy in the Village Competition on Saturday 18 February, resulting in a win for St James’ Church with a record score.

Despite the rain, a group of just over 20 people, together with a group of Brownies with adult supervisors, turned up at the Hare & Hounds for the Village Spring Clean on Saturday, 16 April.

The Co-operative Comes To Rowledge

After a nine-day closure for refurbishment, the Village Stores re-opened on Thursday 13 August after being taken over by The Co-operative.

On 24 January, eleven teams representing village clubs and organisations competed for the Rowledge Cup in the Village Hall. The winning team this year was the Cycling Club.

Happy's Circus a Sell-Out Again

Happy’s Circus pitched its Big Top on Rowledge Recreation Ground on Saturday 13th of September for another sell-out family show and an afternoon full of all the fun of the fair.

Village Competition 2014

The Cricket Club turned out the winners of this year’s Village Competition held on 18 January in the Village Hall with a total of 90 points, the highest ever score.

Once again it was a very close competition with everything hinging on the picture quiz but the result was a new winner. Well done to the St James' Church team, with the Women's Institute team second and, last year's winners, the Football Club, third.

Village Competition 2012

After an incredibly close competition with lead changing several times, defending champions the Football Club (Juniors) came from 4th place in the final round to pip the Scouts (who led into the final round) and Friends of Rowledge School. A full house, lots of atmosphere (new lighting) and a great time had by all (“even better than last year”). Even the bar ran dry just before the end!!! Can Football Club (Juniors) make it a hat-trick next year?

Royal Wedding Street Party

Hundreds of local residents turned out to celebrate the Royal Wedding on Friday 29 April. Organised by Elaine at the Cherry Tree and Adrian and Ann-Marie at the Hare and Hounds, the pubs were very busy with barbecues and special drinks for the ladies and the men. Various fun sports, such as “welly-throwing” and “tug -of-war”, kept everyone entertained. Some £600 was raised for the charity “Help the Heroes”. Congratulations to all those involved in organising the event.

Village Competition 2011

On the evening of Saturday 29 January 2011, ten local organisations and clubs competed for the Village Competition Trophy at the Village Hall. Congratulations to the Football Club (Juniors) for being the first champions.
